If Giannis Antetokounmpo is traded before February 5, his brother Thanasis would go with him, as teams like the Warriors, Heat, Knicks, Timberwolves, Raptors, and Nets show interest.
If Giannis Antetokounmpo is traded from the Milwaukee Bucks before the February 5 deadline, his brother Thanasis would be included in any deal, according to Evan Sidery of Forbes.
Milwaukee Bucks / Schedule
This comes as no surprise, as Milwaukee re-signed Thanasis on a one-year minimum deal largely to keep Giannis happy. Thanasis will become a free agent in the summer of 2026.
The 33-year-old Thanasis has played alongside Giannis since 2019, and the brothers won an NBA championship together in 2021. Last September, they also helped Greece secure bronze at the FIBA EuroBasket 2025.
This season, Thanasis is averaging 1.5 points in 15 appearances, playing roughly three minutes per game. He is a seven-year NBA veteran forward, while Giannis is a two-time MVP.
According to the latest reports, the Golden State Warriors, Miami Heat, New York Knicks, Minnesota Timberwolves, Toronto Raptors, and Brooklyn Nets have shown "sincere interest" in acquiring Giannis.
Giannis, however, is currently sidelined with a right calf strain that will keep him out well past the February 5 trade deadline.
