How Arne Slot can save his Liverpool job
Now, Tim Sherwood has been discussing the future of the 47-year-old live on the latest episode of Premier League Productions’ Team Talks.
At present, Liverpool are still going strong in the Champions League, booking their place in the last-16 of the competition without having to go through the league phase play-offs.
But in the Premier League, they are behind Chelsea and Manchester United and sit just three points clear of 11th.

Now, Sherwood thinks Slot will either need to win the 2025/26 Champions League or secure qualification for next season’s competition through the league to keep his role on Merseyside.
He said: “Listen, Arne Slot, he will not have a job. If they do not win the Champions League or he finishes outside the qualifications for next year’s Champions League, they will get rid of him.”

What is a successful season at Liverpool?
Even if Liverpool were to finish fourth or fifth this season, would that be enough to keep Slot in a job?
The Reds were Premier League champions last season and haven’t come anywhere close to matching Arsenal or Manchester City this term.
A Champions League triumph would obviously be massive and negate any negative league form.
But unless some form of silverware comes back to Anfield this year, it’s hard to see how the campaign can be viewed as a success.
