Opinion: Liverpool could be about to ruin Everton transfer plan after Sky Sports update

David Moyes has admitted that Everton are still looking for some late deals, but time is not on their side.

Despite having some clear areas for improvement on the back of the summer window, Everton are yet to open their wallet this month.

Not a great deal of business has been done throughout the Premier League, but that is no excuse for the Blues not getting their deals done.

Moyes is not expecting any late Everton signings before the window shuts on Monday evening.

What should be Everton’s top priority before the deadline on Monday? 😬

Competition for signings is high as always and there are a number of Premier League sides battling with Moyes for additions.

With days remaining, Liverpool could now be about to put a spanner in the works for the Toffees in their pursuit of one player.

According to a Sky Sports Italy journalist, Liverpool’s interest in Denzel Dumfries could see Inter launch a move for Norton-Cuffy.

“We’re trying to untangle the news we’ve received, because first of all Liverpool have made an enquiry for Dumfries, since Frimpong got injured, and Liverpool are therefore looking for a right-back,” he said.

“It’s true that Dumfries is injured, but he won’t be out for much longer.

“So this exploratory approach from Liverpool for Dumfries has clearly triggered Inter, who in turn tried to make an exploratory enquiry about Norton-Cuffy from Genoa.

“So if Liverpool’s interest in Dumfries becomes concrete, Inter could move to close a deal for Norton-Cuffy.”

Juventus have also shown an interest in Norton-Cuffy as the competition for his signature ramps up in these final days.

It is becoming clear that if Everton are to sign the right-back, then they will have to beat European giants in doing so.

Everton need to act in Norton-Cuffy pursuit

If Everton are serious about potentially signing Norton-Cuffy, they need to act decisively in the remaining hours of the window.

Competition is high and it feels as if Everton are looking for opportunities rather than being proactive.

Moyes admitted Everton are looking for a right-back and have been for the last 12 months since his return to the club.

The 62-year-old’s comments may encourage some fans, but it also raises questions about how it has taken over 12 months and a right-back has still not been signed.

A lot of good has been done on Merseyside over the last year, but Everton are watching the clock tick when clear areas of improvement are needed.
