Liverpool do not have any plans to offload this player despite the recent suggestions of a move away from Anfield

A lot of transfer talk is surrounding Curtis Jones at the moment as surprise links have emerged, linking him to Inter Milan as the latest club to show interest in him.

The midfielder has spent his entire career so far at his boyhood club but recent transfer whispers have started to turn into bigger reports. Jones’ contract is due to expire next summer but a report from September claimed the club plan to ‘prioritise’ new deals for both the 24-year-old and midfield teammate Ryan Gravenberch.

TBR Football’s Graeme Bailey reported: “When it comes to Liverpool contracts, I think Curtis Jones will be sorted pretty soon [...] Jones and Gravenberch will be the next big deals Liverpool really commit to.”

Despite talks of a contract extension, Fabrizio Romano has reported that Inter Milan are asking about signing Jones on loan, with an option to buy at the end of the season.

Fabrizio Romano reports Inter are ‘asking’ for Curtis Jones

Speaking in a recent video on his YouTube channel, Romano said: “Now Inter ask for Jones – loan with an option to buy for €40 million – paid loan and salary covered. Inter want it but at the moment, no answer yet from Liverpool, they haven’t given a green light to the deal.

“It’s not an easy one for Inter, for sure, and it’s on Liverpool to decide, they have an emergency situation with players, so it’s on Liverpool.”

The transfer expert also posted the news on social media, reporting that Inter are in ‘direct club to club talks with Liverpool’ over a loan deal for Jones.

“Negotiations ongoing but linked to Davide Frattesi exit with Nottingham Forest waiting for an answer. Inter and Liverpool discussing today,” Romano posted on Friday.

Liverpool have ‘no plans’ to sell Curtis Jones

Ben Jacobs has followed up with a new, contrasting update to Romano’s initial report. The reporter has posted on social media that the Reds do not plan to offload Jones, who has featured in all but three Premier League games so far this season, starting ten.

“Liverpool have no plans to sell Curtis Jones,” Jacobs wrote. “Inter Milan have been linked with a move, while Spurs considered Jones prior to Conor Gallagher’s arrival, but Liverpool have no plans to sanction an exit.”

Jones has also been attracting interest from Tottenham Hotspur, who were looking to sign the midfielder before their move for Conor Gallagher. However, even after signing the former Chelsea and Atletico Madrid star, Spurs remain linked with Jones.

Romano reported that they had an ‘aggressive’ approach to trying to sign Jones earlier this window, before Gallagher’s arrival.

Liverpool look increasingly unlikely to oversee any significant changes this window. Due to their current injury crisis, the Reds are in no position to let any important players leave the club. However, they are expected to take on another busy period once the summer transfer window comes into play.

Slot is a fan of Jones, having previously praised his attitude and work rate, along with stating that he ‘trusts him in defence’.
