Forgotten Chelsea striker David Datro Fofana has given the green light to a move to Auxerre. Talks are now underway about a move.
That’s according to journalist Marc Mechenoua. He reports on the Chelsea striker across two separate posts on X today.
The first of those, from earlier today, states that Auxerre are exploring the possibility of signing Fofana before ethe end of the month. Discussions were underway with Chelsea regarding a loan move. The conditions demanded by the Blues meant a deal would not be easy.
He then updates that, reporting that talks between Chelsa and Auxerre began a few days ago. They seemed complicated but have, seemingly, progressed.
Auxerre are now awaiting Chelsea’s agreement to finalise a loan deal for the striker. This will include an option for them to buy but will be dependent on Auxerre avoiding relegation. They currently sit in the bottom two in Ligue 1 but are two points behind Nantes in 16th place. Their 12 points means they are joint bottom, though.
Fofana, for his part, has already given his approval to the move. That particular hurdle has already been moved out of the way, then.
Should he make the move, it will be the latest in a growing list of loans for him. He joined Chelsea in 2023 but has since spent time with Union Berlin, Burnley, Göztepe and Karagümrük. He returned from the latter loan spell at the beginning of January and now looks set to depart for another before the month is out.
