Inter are still working on a deal for Curtis Jones, but a contract complication is slowing progress with Liverpool.

The negotiations remain active, yet one key hurdle stands in the way.

Sky Sport journalist Luca Cilli reports, via L’Interista, that the clubs had already reached a verbal agreement for a loan with an option to buy set at €40 million.

However, the situation changed shortly after that understanding.

Liverpool now want Jones to extend his contract before allowing him to leave.

The midfielder’s current deal runs until 2027, and the English club are keen to protect their long-term position before sanctioning any temporary move.

Without that renewal, they are reluctant to proceed.

This issue has direct consequences for Inter’s wider plans.

If Jones cannot arrive, Inter are unlikely to let Davide Frattesi depart before the deadline.

The Nerazzurri want a replacement secured before approving any midfield exit.

Everything will therefore be decided in the final days of the window.

Talks continue, and Inter remain in contact with Liverpool in the hope of finding a solution.

Until the contract matter is resolved, though, the deal cannot move forward.
