Chelsea are set to meet with Aaron Anselmino’s agents tonight to work out his future beyond the January transfer window.
That’s according to journalist Patrick Berger. He reports that Anselmino’s agent, Diego Merino, arrived in London yesterday.
According to his information, the 20-year-old is waiting for a final decision on his future. That will likely depend on Mamadou Sarr and Jeremy Jacquet.
Chelsea are considering bringing Sarr back from a loan at Strasbourg. They are also pursuing a deal for the highly rated Jacquet, but Rennes are reluctant to let him go this month.
That’s left Anselmino in limbo. He was recalled from a loan spell at Borussia Dortmund earlier this month. He’d been with the German club since the summer as Chelsea looked for him to develop in the Bundesliga with regular playing time.
Instead, they elected to bring him back early to bolster their own defensive options. That didn’t go down well in Germany, where they were accused of ‘shaking the football world’. Now a decision is to be made about his future.
Berger reports his agent will meet with Chelsea tonight for talks after flying to London yesterday. Chelsea play West Ham at Stamford Bridge this evening.
Berger also adds that Dortmund are waiting in the wings, hoping they can get Anselmino back after all. The journalist labels it a ‘crazy situation’, which it seems Anselmino’s agent is now trying to work out.
