Under the Hood - it’s time to see what’s really going on inside this Pistons team.
There were a lot of pretty passes in this one.
Ausar Thompson showed off his passing ability with a behind-the-back dime to Jalen Duren and a one-handed steamer to Cade Cunningham early in the first.
Daniss Jenkins wanted to get in on the fun as well with a lob to Ron Holland and a behind-the-back pocket pass to Isaiah Stewart.
If anybody faced some trouble last night, it was Stephen Curry and the Golden State Warriors due to the stifling defense by the Detroit Pistons.
Ron Holland hounded Steph on a few possessions off the bench, and Cade Cunningham and Isaiah Stewart had no problem contesting Curry at the rim.
It was Ausar Thompson who would cause most of the trouble for Golden State, and Steph Curry in particular had a difficult time.
Ausar was truly everywhere defensively last night finishing with eight rebounds and six steals. It’s clear he’s one of the best perimeter defenders in the league and there are very few players who have his kind of motor.
Look at the effort he gives on this possession:
I didn’t know whether to include this one in the assists or the defensive section, but it has both.
Great effort by Daniss Jenkins to get the ball back after the Warriors rebound, toss the ball back to avoid the backcourt violation, but still throwing a good pass to get Jaden Ivey an open three from the wing.
