Frosinone head coach Massimiliano Alvini believes Celtic transfer target Fares Ghedjemis will remain with the Serie B club beyond the January transfer window deadline.

But the Italian insists the forward will go to Glasgow with his blessing if an agreement can be struck. Hoops are confident of landing the Frenchman, who has scored eight times in 23 matches so far this season.

Lazio-based side Frosinone are reluctant to lose their star man and will reportedly demand a mega fee of £8.6million to consider selling him before the deadline. Their hard line stance on transfers stems from club president Maurizio Stripe, who has only ever agreed to sell one star player during a mid-season window when they banked a record fee with the sale of future Italy star Federico Gatti to Juventus for £8.6million in January 2022.

And boss Alvini does expect to still have Ghedjemis at his disposal when the window slams shut on Monday night. Speaking after Saturday's 1-1 draw away to Virtus Entella, he said: "Will I find Ghedjemis in training on Tuesday? I think so.

"But if the player leaves for a fee I don't know. I'm still happy for him, for the club, and for the work done."

It comes after the 23-year-old's agent confirmed they are open to a late transfer switch if an offer presents itself.

Fabrizio Ferrari told TuttoMercatoWeb : "Of course we'll talk to the club. But as of today, there are no requests that can satisfy both the player from a technical standpoint and Frosinone from a financial standpoint as of today, given he's the best player in Serie B."

Celtic have been linked with forward players this month, with loan duo Julian Araujo and Tomas Cvancara the only players to arrive through the doors at Lennoxtown so far.

Martin O'Neill's men have been credited with an interest in Bodo/Glimt's Kasper Hogh and Chelsea forward David Datro Fofana who was previously on their radar last summer.

The latter has been recalled from a loan spell at Fatih Karagümrük in Turkey, with the Stamford Bridge giants now looking to sell him on a permanent deal.

And reports in France claim that the Ivorian has given the greenlight to join Ligue 1 side Auxerre, having also been previously touted as a target for league rivals Rennes and clubs in the Qatar Stars League.

Going the other way, Record Sport broke the news that Hoops defender Auston Trusty is being monitored by Serie A pair Fiorentina and Lazio.
