Hector Bellerin's response to Piers Morgan's question about Donald Trump replacing Arsene Wenger as Arsenal manager has resurfaced. The US President met with Morgan back in January 2018 and even presented Trump with a Gunners' jersey during their interview.
Morgan pushed for Wenger to leave at the time, amid the North Londoners' struggle to reach the top four and their 14-year wait for the Premier League title. The British broadcaster got his wish at the end of the 2017-18 season when the French manager called time on his 22-year tenure.
Unai Emery was appointed as Wenger's successor in May, but the Spaniard lasted just 18 months before he was sacked due to results. He was replaced by Mikel Arteta, who has been in charge ever since, although if Morgan had his way, Trump would be in the Emirates dugout.

Morgan sat down with Trump during his first tenure as US President, and the former Britain's Got Talent judge seemed in awe of the American businessman. He talked up the possibility of Trump taking over at the Emirates by suggesting he has the credentials of a successful football coach (via ITV):
"We've been going through a rough patch for a long period of time. People think it's time for a change of leadership at my club. I have something for you. This is an Arsenal shirt, Mr President. POTUS 45, Trump 45. We're looking for a new leader with an attacking philosophy who believes in a strong defensive wall and believes in winning at all costs and only wants big trophies."
Trump responded to Morgan and the replica Arsenal shirt presented to him:
"Well, I think that's beautiful, and I do have a son who loves this sport. It's growing very rapidly in the United States."
Morgan asked Trump if he was an Arsenal fan and he responded:
"Not particularly no. But I have a friend who owns Manchester United, so I know exactly what I'm gonna do."
Trump and Morgan ended their interview with the latter desperately trying to get him to agree to the job. The US President threw the shirt to someone off-screen, almost as if he wasn't interested.
Arsenal appointed current boss Arteta in December 2019, and he has propelled the Gunners into the title picture, although his side has fallen short in the past three years. He has built a 'strong defensive wall' with Gabriel Magalhaes and William Saliba forming a formidable partnership at the back.
Ex-Arsenal Man Bellerin Responded To Morgan and Trump
Hector Bellerin for Arsenal-1
Bellerin was at Arsenal at the time of the interview, and he responded to Morgan putting out a teaser of their exchange. The Spaniard played for three more years at the Emirates before leaving for La Liga club Real Betis.
The former Gunners man wrote on X: "Hope he said no."
Bellerin was linked with a move to Barcelona in 2017 but opted to stay at Arsenal because of his loyalty to Wenger. He said after turning the Catalans down (via ESPN): "The loyalty one has to a person is worth more than money, it is something that is very important for me. And him being there carries a lot of weight for me."
The 30-year-old made 239 appearances during his time in North London, posting nine goals and 29 assists. He won the FA Cup three times, including in 2020 under Arteta.
