While many would love for Giannis Antetokounmpo to shock the NBA this season by joining the Golden State Warriors, many are unsure what a potential deal could look like.
Luckily, Forbes’ Evan Sidery has it covered, as he provided the framework for a midseason blockbuster Warriors-Antetokounmpo deal.
“Here is what the Warriors’ trade package for Giannis Antetokounmpo looks like, including Draymond Green instead of Jimmy Butler (Green, Jonathan Kuminga, Brandin Podziemski, Moses Moody, a 2026 first-round pick, a 2028 first-round pick, a 2030 first-round pick, a 2032 first-round pick, and a 2031 pick swap to the Bucks for Antetokounmpo)," Sidery wrote on X/Twitter Saturday. “A third team would get involved to acquire Green.”
Essentially, the Warriors don’t have the luxury of being stingy if they want to add Antetokounmpo to their roster and prepare themselves for a ferocious championship push.
Green or Butler must be included in a trade for the Bucks’ No. 1 contributor for a deal to materialize, and in Sidery’s mind, Green is the asset that the Warriors may have to sacrifice.
Curry’s title window is slim, and the four-time NBA champion won’t have Butler, his new superstar teammate, by his side for the second portion of the year (ACL injury).
As a result, acquiring Antetokounmpo by any means necessary should be the organization’s top priority before the Feb. 5 trade deadline passes.
