There’s a certain type of signing that always catches the eye of Liverpool fans.
Not because it involves Anfield directly, but because it brings up a familiar path: academy years, hard lessons in the lower leagues, then a player forcing his way back into the conversation through pure output.
That’s the story behind one of Bradford City’s latest move. They are in the play-off mix in EFL League One and chasing promotion, so they are not shopping for potential.
They are shopping for goals, experience, and someone who understands pressure.
It also speaks to how brutal modern squads have become at the top end.
Clubs chasing bigger targets have to make room, even for names that meant a lot in recent promotion runs.
When that happens, ambitious League One sides move quickly.
From a Liverpool point of view, it’s always interesting when a forward with roots in the city takes another step.
The early development matters, even if the breakthrough comes later elsewhere. And this one comes with a serious record and a point to prove after a mixed start to the season.
Now, Bradford have made it official.
Bradford City have confirmed the loan signing of Paul Mullin from Wrexham AFC until the end of the season.
Wrexham AFC communicated via their official website, “Wrexham AFC can confirm striker Paul Mullin has signed on loan for Bradford City until the end of the 2025/26 season… Back-to-back-to-back promotion winner Mullin, 31, started the season on loan with Wigan Athletic – scoring five goals… All at Wrexham AFC would like to wish Mulls and Bradford the best of luck for the remainder of the season.”
Phil Parkinson added, “We’re really pleased for Paul, it’s a good opportunity to part of a team challenging at the top of the league.”
Mullin, a former Liverpool academy player who came through the academies at Everton and Liverpool before spending time at the Liverpool Foundation Football College, after which he joined Huddersfield Town, told Bradford: “I am looking forward to getting to Valley Parade and playing in front of all the supporters. It is a big boost for me to be here.”
Mullin’s move to Bradford also comes at a time when he remains one of the most recognisable figures associated with Wrexham’s recent rise.
Back in 2024, the former Liverpool academy forward drew attention for attributing his trademark fist-pumping celebration to Jurgen Klopp, describing it as the “best thing Jurgen gave me” after a key win for Wrexham.
A lifelong Liverpool supporter, Mullin has often spoken about how his time in Merseyside shaped his mentality, and that influence has followed him throughout his career, from Cambridge United to his goal-laden spell in Wales.
“I am over the moon and cannot wait to start… I love success and being around successful people, coming here offers exactly that… There is an expectation from the fans which is big, that it is something which suits me… When the pressure is on, I try to thrive in that environment.”
Bradford boss Graham Alexander said: “Paul brings us a wealth of experience and know-how, with an ability to score all types of goals.”
“He can also press the opposition in a way which helps the team… With several promotions under his belt, he will add to the winning mentality already in the group.”
