Liverpool came from behind to secure their first Premier League win of the year with [a 4-1 triumph against Newcastle United at Anfield on Saturday evening](https://www.liverpoolecho.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/liverpool-newcastle-united-live-stream-33337630). After Anthony Gordon put the visitors ahead, two goals in as many minutes from Hugo Ekitike turned the game around before half-time with Florian Wirtz and Ibrahima Konate netting in the second half.
The result means Arne Slot's side remain just a point outside the top four and have now lost just once in their last 16 matches in all competitions.

Clobbered by Gordon early on and not always convincing when dealing with relentless Newcastle corners first half, but sound handling in second stanza.

Not inclined to overlap down the flank early on but solid enough with defensive duties and began to become more of an attacking threat after break.
**Ibrahima Konate 9**
Excellent showing half on return to starting line-up in dominating form up against the Newcastle attack. Deserved his late goal which led to emotional celebrations.

Aerial prowess required defensively as Newcastle pummelled the Liverpool box before break and experience helped see the game out.

Hands full with Elanga first half and mistake to stand off Gordon for opener but good awareness to release Ekitike for second and improved notably.

Took a while to influence game with forward passing but created chance for Ekitike first half and involved in equaliser.

Inadvertently assisted Newcastle opener and game occasionally passed him by before getting to grips with matters second half. Booked.

Played ball against Hall bit too often first half but willingness to keep running created space for others and eventually led to assist for Wirtz. Subbed.

On the periphery opening quarter but determined to play himself into game and excellent to create equaliser and good work before notching third.
**Cody Gakpo 7**
Plenty of endeavour but end product missing first half, occasionally to frustration of home crowd. Pressing, though, led to the third goal and began to cause problems for Newcastle.
**Hugo Ekitike 9**
The one Liverpool player to threaten Pope early on before taking his two goals superbly, particularly the second. Another excellent all-round attacking display. Subbed.
