Luka Doncic makes Lakers history only done by teammate LeBron James

Luka Doncic was firing on all cylinders with the Los Angeles Lakers on Friday night.

The Washington Wizards had no answer for Doncic in the first half of the contest, as the Lakers’ No. 1 scoring option impressively recorded a triple-double.

Doncic finished the contest with 37 points (six made threes), 13 assists, and 11 rebounds in the Lakers’ 31-point road win. In the process, Doncic made Lakers history that's only been done by his teammate, LeBron James

"Luka Doncic dominated tonight," the NBA's official X/Twitter account stated. "He joins LeBron James as the only players in Lakers franchise history to tally a 35-PT triple-double with 5+ three-point makes."

Players hoping to replicate Doncic’s first-half success in the foreseeable future shouldn't get their hopes up. While it’s common for stars to orchestrate jaw-dropping performances in the first 24 minutes of a ball game, it’s rare to see a 26-point, 11-assist, and 10-rebound stat line.

Witnessing triple-doubles from point guards in a full game isn't terribly common, either.

With Austin Reaves in and out of Los Angeles’ lineup due to injuries and LeBron James taking a step back on the scoring front, Doncic has been tasked with carrying the offensive load.

Fortunately for the Lakers, Doncic has done just that, imposing his will nightly and helping the 17-time NBA champions remain in the hunt for the No. 1 seed in the Western Conference.

The Lakers are in good hands moving forward with Doncic leading the way.
