Kings are one loss away from being at the lowest point of this season

If there's one thing that the Sacramento Kings are proving this season, it's that things can always get worse. They are currently in the eighth game of their current losing streak. If they [lose their next game to the Wizards](https://aroyalpain.com/another-team-nba-basement-could-tnew-home-for-domantas-sabonis), they will end up on their longest losing streak of the season, which says a lot.

The Kings are 50 games into an 82-game season with a record of 12 wins and 38 losses. With their most recent loss to the Boston Celtics, Sacramento is back to being the worst team in the Western Conference. That's in part due to the Pelicans winning their most recent game.

Somehow, that's not the worst of it. This eight-game losing streak has also driven the Kings to the bottom of the entire league. Not only does Sacramento have a worse record than the Pelicans in the Western Conference, but they're also behind the Wizards and the Pacers in the Eastern Conference.

No team wants to find themselves in this position. The season is 63% over, meaning that mounting a real comeback to be even remotely relevant is highly improbable. What's more likely is that the season continues to get worse for the Kings, particularly if they don't snap this specific slide.

One more loss will put the Kings at their lowest point

------------------------------------------------------

Sacramento's next game is against the Washington Wizards on February 1st. Oddly enough, the Kings' last victory before this eight-game losing streak started [was actually against the Wizards](https://aroyalpain.com/domantas-sabonis-made-his-return-kings-surprising-way), giving fans some hope that their team will be able to pick up a second win against Washington.

The problem is what happens if they don't. If the Wizards beat the Kings, that will extend Sacramento's losing streak to nine straight. That will be the Kings' longest losing streak of the season, with the previous record in 2025-2026 being eight losses.

On top of that, the Kings have lost 12 straight games on the road and have an abysmal record away from Golden 1 Center. The Wizards still hold the longest losing streak of the season at 16, which they snapped a while ago. Unless something changes, the Kings could potentially break that streak.

No team wants to be the worst in the league, but that's where the Kings are at this moment. And there is actual potential for them to slide even further into the abyss. For fans, the main source of hope is big roster changes at the trade deadline, the NBA Draft, and through the offseason.
