It isn’t surprising that Golden State Warriors forward Draymond Green has been involved in trade rumors lately.
With the Warriors having their sights set on acquiring Milwaukee Bucks star Giannis Antetokounmpo before next Thursday’s trade deadline, there’s a chance the franchise goes all-in for the two-MVP in a trade involving Green.
On Friday, the four-time NBA champion opened up on the possibility of getting traded after a lengthy and successful stint with the Dubs.
"I've been here for 14 years," Green said Friday. "I have no reason to sit and worry about leaving. But if I'm traded, that's part of the business. I ain't losing no sleep, though. I slept great last night."
Clearly, Green’s been around long enough to comprehend how the NBA operates. Although the Warriors don’t have a personal vendetta against Green, they must do what’s best for the organization’s immediate future.
If the Golden State doesn’t change its stance on trading Jimmy Butler, Green would be the next man up in a blockbuster trade for Antetokounmpo. Whether or not Green remains with Golden State beyond the trade deadline, he can take solace in knowing he played an integral part in the Warriors’ recent success.
Golden State wouldn’t have captured four titles from 2014-22 without Green’s two-way contributions, and that isn’t up for debate.
It’ll be interesting to see if the Michigan State product is still a Warrior at the end of next week.
