Bulls Cut Ties With $19 Million Guard After 3-Team Trade: Report

The Chicago Bulls are making a second roster move on Saturday night, following the three-team trade that reportedly went down between the Cleveland Cavaliers, Sacramento Kings, and Chicago.

According to ESPN's Shams Charania, the Bulls are cutting ties with the veteran guard Jevon Carter. The decision to do so helps the Bulls clear up a roster spot to acquire Dario Saric from the Kings.

The Bulls aren't going to be major players in the three-team deal. The biggest names were swapped between Sacramento and Cleveland. The Kings acquired De'Andre Hunter, while the Cavaliers came up with Dennis Schroder and Keon Ellis.

Carter, a 30-year-old point guard, is set to become available for the first time since 2023. Back then, Carter was a free agent who signed with the Bulls on a three-year contract. The deal was for a reported $19.5 million.

Over three seasons, Carter appeared in 130 games for the Bulls, seeing the court for 12.0 minutes per game. He posted averages of 4.8 points and 1.2 assists. Carter drained 38 percent of his shots from the field and knocked down 34 percent of his threes.

Prior to his run with the Bulls, Carter spent time with the Phoenix Suns, Milwaukee Bucks, Brooklyn Nets, and the Memphis Grizzlies. He is a former second-round pick out of West Virginia in 2018.

The Bulls will now come up with a former first-round pick in Saric. The veteran started his career with the Philadelphia 76ers in 2016. Since then, he has had stints with the Minnesota Timberwolves, Phoenix Suns, Oklahoma City Thunder, Golden State Warriors, and the Denver Nuggets.

The veteran front-court player has made just five appearances with the struggling Kings this year. Last season, he played in 16 games for the Nuggets, averaging 3.5 points while shooting 36 percent from the field.
