Kings and Blazers explored major trade involving All-Stars

The Sacramento Kings reportedly explored a trade sending DeMar DeRozan to the Portland Trail Blazers for Jrue Holiday, but no deal materialized.

The Sacramento Kings approached the Portland Trail Blazers about a potential DeMar DeRozan-for-Jrue Holiday trade, according to Brett Siegel of ClutchPoints.

"There were some talks weeks ago about the Kings approaching the Portland Trail Blazers about a possible Jrue Holiday for DeRozan type of swap, but nothing ever formed there either," Siegel reported.

The Kings, considered the biggest sellers ahead of the February 5 trade deadline, have struggled to generate interest in their 36-year-old veteran DeRozan.

Earlier this season, they also explored a trade with the LA Clippers involving DeRozan and Keon Ellis, but that deal never came together, per Siegel.

Holiday, meanwhile, remains a name to watch, as the Blazers have been fielding interest from several teams and are reportedly open to trading the veteran guard.

DeRozan, a six-time NBA All-Star forward, is averaging 19.0 points, 3.2 rebounds, and 3.9 assists per game this season.

Holiday, 35, a two-time All-Star and two-time NBA champion, is posting 14.3 points, 4.5 rebounds, 6.7 assists, and 1.3 steals in his first season with Portland.

The Kings recently traded Dennis Schroder and Keon Ellis for De'Andre Hunter in a three-team deal.
