Leeds United boss Daniel Farke lauded Arsenal's performance against his side, heaping praise on Gabriel Jesus in particular. The Gunners hammered the Peacocks 4-0 at Elland Road in the Premier League on Saturday.
The north London side faced Leeds on the back of three winless games in the Premier League. However, they got past the hosts comfortably, recording 13 attempts, with seven being on target. Martin Zubimendi (27'), Karl Darlow (38', og), Viktor Gyokeres (69'), and Gabriel Jesus (86') scored in a 4-0 win.
After the game, Daniel Farke hailed Arsenal as the best team in Europe, saying (h/t Metro):
"First of all, congratulations to Arsenal. A deserved win today so I have to say we have to accept that the better team won this game. Of course we were realistic before we faced today the best side currently in Europe. There are reasons why this team is sitting on top of the table in the Premier League, why this team is the best team currently in Europe, eight wins out of eight Champions League games."
Farke added that his side needed a "perfect day" and "a bit of luck", but they didn't get it. He congratulated Mikel Arteta's side and added that they deserved to win the game. Further praising Gabriel Jesus for his goal, the Leeds boss said:
"The gaps were then more or less a bit bigger for their offensive players and then Viktor Gyokeres and especially Gabriel Jesus was unbelievable with movement for the fourth goal, they showed then their quality and what they can do if they have a bit more space."
Farke acknowledged that his side should have defended better in the game, but added that Arsenal deserved the win.
Arsenal keep pressure up on Manchester City with crucial win over Leeds
Before facing Leeds, Arsenal drew 0-0 against Liverpool and Nottingham Forest before losing 3-2 against Manchester United in the Premier League. This saw their gap at the top of the table reduce to four points over second-placed Manchester City.
However, they bounced back well at Elland Road. Martin Zubimendi finished well in the 27th minute before Karl Darlow failed to deal with a corner and ended up putting it in his own net. Viktor Gyokeres tapped in from a Gabriel Martinelli cross in the 69th minute, before Gabriel Jesus finished brilliantly in the 85th minute.
With the win, the Gunners' gap over Manchester City increased to seven points, having played one more game. The Cityzens will face Tottenham Hotspur away on Sunday. Leeds, meanwhile, are 16th, six points above the relegation zone.
