Jamie Redknapp says Chelsea have‘one of the best’ in the world after West Ham win

Liam Rosenior picked up another victory as Chelsea manager following his side’s 3-2 triumph over West Ham United on Saturday.

However, it was not an easy three points, as Chelsea had to come back from 2-0 down against their London rivals.

Several pundits have been impressed with Rosenior, including Chris Sutton, who thinks some Chelsea fans now look silly after not giving the 41-year-old much of a chance following his arrival at the club.

Jamie Redknapp claims Marc Cucurella is ‘one of the best left-backs in the world’

Following the full-time whistle at Stamford Bridge, Redknapp spoke about Marc Cucurella in detail.

Cucurella was brought on at half-time and scored Chelsea’s equaliser before Enzo Fernandez bagged the winner.

According to Redknapp, the Spaniard is “one of the best left-backs in the world”. Speaking about him on Sky Sports, he said: “Cucurella is one of the best left-backs in the world. [Wesley] Fofana can come forward with the ball which has an impact on the first one and then Joao Pedro gives you a bit of impetus.

“Cucurella is one of the guys you want in the team. It’s important with the goal, but his all-round energy… football is about tactics, but it’s also about energy and desire.”

Before his goal, it was Pedro who got Chelsea back in the game after his head connected with Fofana’s sensational cross.

Fofana did not put in the best performance against Napoli during the week, but the central defender, alongside Cucurella, were solid in Saturday’s London derby.

Cucurella’s performance against West Ham showed why Redknapp’s assessment of the 27-year-old is absolutely spot on.

Cucurella has developed into a full-back who is effective in defence, in the middle of the pitch and in attack.

Again, Cucurella scored the goal that drew Chelsea level, and while it was only actually his first of the season, last term the Spain international managed to net seven times. That is an excellent number for a full-back.

It was also not too long ago when Cucurella locked down Barcelona’s Lamine Yamal, one of the best wingers in the game.

Being able to defend, attack and invert into midfield, Cucurella is the complete full-back.
