Liverpool midfielder Curtis Jones has been linked with Inter Milan ahead of the January transfer window closes.
Arne Slot insists that Liverpool will not be entertaining any outgoings before the window transfer window closes.
Curtis Jones is the latest member of the Reds’ squad to be linked with an exit before Monday’s 19.00 GMT deadline. Inter Milan have expressed an interest in signing the midfielder, with a loan with the option to buy suggested.
In addition, Andy Robertson has been pursued by Premier League rivals Tottenham Hotspur this month, with the left-back’s contract expiring in 2026.
However, given Liverpool’s shortage of players - with Jeremie Frimpong (groin), Joe Gomez (hip), Alexander Isak (broken leg), Conor Bradley, Giovanni Leoni (both knee), Jayden Danns and Stefan Bajcetic (both hamstring) missing the 4-1 victory over Newcastle United - the club are not in a position to make their squad weaker.
Speaking after the Newcastle triumph, Anfield head coach Slot said: “I think there’s always a lot of talks about Liverpool and a lot of talks about Liverpool players. There was a lot of noise around the club the last week, [or] maybe I should say weeks. I think our fans showed today what noise really means – that’s being loud, because they were so helpful today. So that is what noise here is in Liverpool. I think we are trying to strengthen the squad and not trying to weaken it. Forty-eight hours, I don’t know how long to go, but let’s see when the window ends.”
Italian reporter Fabrizio Romano has suggested that Liverpool remain ‘in conversations’ with Rennes over a potential deal for Jacquet. Chelsea are also keen on signing the 20-year-old defender. However, French outfit Rennes are reluctant to allow Jacquet this month as they pursue European qualification.
Romano said on YouTube: “A big battle for Jeremey Jacquet. Chelsea remain there but there is also Liverpool. Chelsea and Liverpool are in a battle but there are more clubs calling. Liverpool and Chelsea have made their interest very clear to the player and to Rennes.
“The deal would not be for now. It would be closed now but for the season 2026-27, so from the summer. The decision is ongoing with the player’s camp and Rennes. Liverpool and Chelsea are in conversation with Jeremy Jacquet. It’s a serious battle so let’s see what’s going to happen. More clubs are calling.”
