Arsenal announce deal for midfielder–Gunners wants£87M striker–Arteta delighted with late Gunners deal

Here is a roundup of the top Arsenal news, gossip and transfer latest from icfootballnews featuring the likes of Julian Alvarez, Alex Dowman and Mikel Arteta that you may have missed…

Mikel Arteta believes Max Dowman is one of the best talents he has seen after the 16-year-old signed his pre-contract agreement with Arsenal and ended speculation that the big European clubs could try and snatch him away from the Emirates.

And after seeing the young man put pen to paper, Arteta believes Max Dowman is one of the best talents he has seen, Speaking at his pre-match press conference ahead of facing Leeds for a second time this season, Mikel was quick to praise Max for his incredible progress so far.

He said: “It’s a proud moment to see him yesterday signing that deal in front of his family and his loved ones. Big credit to everybody that’s been involved in that journey with him, to bring him all the way to the first team and especially the manner that they’ve done it.

“Now we have an amazing talent that, day-by-day, I think we need to shape because there’s so much there.”

“Certainly one of the best,” he added. “What he’s done with us at the age of 15.

“Me personally, I haven’t seen it before. Only with a guy who used to play in Barcelona, but maybe not even that. He certainly has, not only that, he has a certain charisma as well and personality that he doesn’t get overwhelmed, whether it’s by the situation, or the stadium or the opposition, and that’s a huge quality to have.

“The fact that we have very good examples [of academy players in the first team] is very helpful. Then it’s down, not only the players as well, but the family as well because obviously they’re a crucial part of their education and their development and we are very responsible of that.

“He’s been great. He’s got a great family. The communication between us has been very, very productive over the years. Now I think they trust what we’re going to do with him and now it’s down to him and us to build an amazing career with him.”

IcFootballnews Says…

There is alot of excitement around Dowman, the lad is showing some great potential and if he is able to keep his feet on the ground and not let all the hype go to his head, he could be a huge success like many players before him.

ARSENAL have a proud history of bringing some of the games best talents into the first team and turning them into quality players, and Dowman is the man that Arsenal believe could go on and become as success as Bukayo Saka has been over the past few seasons.

But one thing is for certain, Dowman is at the right club to develop into the player many believe he will become.

JULIAN ALVAREZ WANTED

There has been some shock reports in the media this weekend which have now claimed that Arsenal are ready to offer a player-plus-cash deal to sign Atletico Madrid striker Julian Alvarez at the end of the season.

Last summer the Gunners splashed some serious money signing Viktor Gyokeres after the big striker proved himself to be one of the most dangerous attackers in world football, but his return of goals this season represents a poor return for a player ARSENAL paid £64m for last summer.

That has led to alot of speculation in the media that Arsenal are very much interested in trying to sign Alvarez for a reported £81 million, with many reports suggesting that Madrid will be open to letting the striker leave the club.

And now it has been claimed that Julian Alvarez is said to be unhappy at Atletico Madrid, as Arsenal plot a player-plus cash deal for the Argentine striker.

With Alvarez said to be open to a move away from Atletico, TEAMtalk report that Gabriel Jesus and Gabriel Martinelli – who were each involved in the club’s 4-0 win at Leeds on Saturday afternoon – have been mentioned as potential makeweights in a deal.

Paris Saint-Germain and Chelsea have also been sounded out for interest, but the Gunners are keen to win any transfer race for the player, who celebrates his 26th birthday today.

The news comes after Pundit Gary Lineker suggested ARSENAL should pursue Alvarez this summer and says his arrival in north London would be devastating for their domestic rivals: ‘They’ve not got anyone really banging in the goals on a regular basis,’ Lineker said on The Rest is Football podcast after Arsenal’s defeat to Manchester United.

‘Gabriel Jesus has come back and scored one or two but there was a reason they needed to sign a new No. 9 in the first place.

‘I like Jesus and always have, he’s got a great work ethic, he chases and harries and does get a few goals. He’s a bit streaky – when he’s on he’s on but when he’s off he a bit of a confidence player.

‘It’s probably complete b*** as most of these things are on social media but I saw they were linked with Julian Alvarez who I know is not entirely happy with life at Atletico.

‘Now that is the sort of player you know can handle the big occasion – he’s a World Cup winner for crying out loud. Someone like that at Arsenal would be game over.

‘But they do need one or two of these current forwards to start scoring on a reasonably regular basis.

DOWMAN DELIGHTED WITH DEAL

Talented attacker Max Dowman has opened up and revealed that his latest contract agreement with Arsenal means alot to him, after it was revealed that the lad signed his pre-contract agreement with the Gunners.

At 15 years and 234 days, Dowman became the second-youngest player to represent the Gunners and the second-youngest to play in the Premier League – with team-mate Ethan Nwaneri, currently on loan at Marseille, holding both records.

Dowman, who can play on the wing or as an attacking midfielder, had emerged as one of the most sought-after young players in European football but will be staying in north London after agreeing that deal.

And after signing with ARSENAL, the lad has admitted just how much it means to him, he said: “I’ve been at the club my whole life, so this really means a lot.

“There’s such a clear pathway here, players who have come through our academy, like Bukayo Saka, Myles Lewis-Skelly and Ethan Nwaneri, who all really inspire me.

“It’s amazing to have role models so close that have experienced the same thing that I have.”

DOWMAN TO BE A SUPERSTAR?

There is no doubt the lad has alot of potential, he is at the right club to develop and get chances to prove himself in the first team, we will hear alot about the lad over the next few seasons that is for sure.

ARSENAL knew that some massive clubs were keeping a close eye and were ready to make their moves, so the fact that they have secured Dowman means that they believe he will break into that first team sooner rather than later.

He just needs to stay away from Injury, keep his head firmly on playing and not get too involved in all the hype surrounding his name, then he could become a massive player for Arsenal in the future.
