The report by TEAMtalk states that Arsenal are preparing to escalate their interest in Atletico Madrid star Alvarez, with sources stating that the Gunners are willing to include players in a plus-cash deal to land the Argentine.
Arsenal registered their interest after Alvarez's representatives 'discreetly' informed clubs of his possible availability, and now senior Gunners figures are discussing his potential arrival.
Alvarez, hyped as 'the best in the world', is thought to be increasingly frustrated with life at the Estadio Metropolitano, which has alerted a number of elite clubs, with ongoing financial issues at Barcelona ruling them out.
Arsenal have been contacted, and director Andrea Berta - who brought Alvarez to Atletico - is aware of the player's situation.
Arsenal have watched Alvarez in person over the past two weeks, with Viktor Gyokeres only just getting back into the goals and Gabriel Jesus only just returning from injury. However, Jesus could be sacrificed, alongside Gabriel Martinelli, who have both been described as unbelievable.
Whether they would agree to being part of a move for the Argentine remains to be seen, but if Arsenal win the Premier League and Champions League, they'd arguably be the most enticing option in Europe.
