Liverpool contract renewal‘stumbling block’ for Nottingham Forest to sign another club’s player

Liverpool hold the cards in Inter Milan’s Davide Frattesi moving to Nottingham Forest in the winter market. That’s at least what Gianluca Di Marzio is reporting.

On Friday, the Italian media reported of Nottingham Forest’s offer for the 26-year-old.

Earlier today, Gazzetta dello Sport explained the Italy international held talks with Sean Dyche over a move to the City Ground. Nottingham Forest are finalising the deal to sign him on loan with an option to buy.

Inter have identified Liverpool’s Curtis Jones as the target to replace Frattesi. Claims from Italy reported today that he has asked to leave Anfield before Monday’s deadline. He has already reached an agreement with the Nerazzurri, who has to agree terms with the Reds.

Di Marzio covers the latest on the possibility of the Liverpool man arriving at the San Siro and then Frattesi moving to Nottingham Forest.

Dyche’s side have done their part to sign the Italian. He’s also eager to make a switch to the Premier League. The journalist claims this transfer will only go through if Inter sign the 25-year-old England international.

The Italian club want to sign Jones on a loan deal and have been in contact with Arne Slot’s side. Although the midfielder has played 29 matches for Liverpool this season, he wants to leave them in this window.

Di Marzio indicates Jones doesn’t feel ‘like he’s part of their plan’ and wants to join Inter.

He has less than 18 months left on his contract at Anfield. Liverpool want to secure an extension before letting the midfielder go out on loan with a purchase option.

As things stand, Jones’ contract renewal with Liverpool is the ‘stumbling block’ for Inter to sign him. He is the only midfielder identified to replace Frattesi.

If Jones were to not arrive at the San Siro, Inter will stop Frattesi’s transfer to Nottingham Forest.
