Besiktas table offer for Liverpool linked midfielder

Liverpool’s recruitment team is again being linked with a young midfielder who has quietly built a serious profile in Scandinavia.

He has been with the same club since he was six.

The midfielder made his senior debut in May 2023, coming off the bench in the Eliteserien after appearing for the club’s reserve side.

His development has been steady rather than flashy. He scored his first senior goals in a domestic cup tie later that same month.

By May 2024, he had his first league goal too, and it came in a big moment — the winning strike against Rosenborg.

On his 18th birthday, he signed a new four-year deal that runs to the end of 2027.

Internationally, he has represented Norway at multiple youth levels and captained their Under-18s.

He was also left out of the Under-19 Euros in 2024 because the tournament clashed with club fixtures, which tells you how much his team value him.

A former youth coach even called him a “future leader” after praising his physique and control.

Now, with his experience piling up and his numbers rising, the market is starting to move.

Jens Hjerto-Dahl of Tromso looks to be on a roll and the first firm step in this story is reportedly coming from Besiktas.

Liverpool have been credited as admirers, and that alone tends to raise the temperature around any young talent.

Earlier reports have also suggested Liverpool’s interest in Hjerto-Dahl is not new.

A Norwegian outlet claimed the Reds had already sent scouts to watch the youngster during Norway Under-18s’ 2-1 win over Denmark, with Brondby also reportedly in attendance.

At the time, it was noted that his contract situation was being monitored closely, with suggestions he could be in line for a new deal running to 2027.

Those earlier links were fuelled by his rapid rise at club level too, after he made 13 senior appearances for Tromsø and registered three goals and two assists in limited minutes, showing why clubs across Europe are now paying attention.

According to Tuttomercato, Besiktas have opened talks and put an offer of around £6m (€7m) on the table.

The report read, “The player, considered in Norway to be one of the best promises of the local movement often compared to Sergej Milinkovic Savic, is in negotiations with Besiktas, who have put seven million euros onon the table.”

“However, be careful of potential additions from Serie A, where Bologna and Lazio are following the boy. In the Premier League, however, Liverpool are interested.”

That matters because it sets a price point, and it forces every other interested club to show their hand. In Italy, Bologna and Lazio are said to be monitoring the situation and watching how the Turkish talks develop before deciding their next move.

From a Liverpool point of view, the link is the key complication.

If Liverpool push, it changes the leverage.

If they don’t, Besiktas may try to close quickly before bigger clubs step in.

Hjerto-Dahl has also drawn attention from CIES Football Observatory, which listed him among the 100 best U20 players for experience level in 2024 — another reason this one could speed up.
