Most interceptions, 94% passing, 16 defensive contributions... Chelsea ace proves Liam Rosenior right

Chelsea are in stunning form right now. There is a togetherness at Stamford Bridge since Liam Rosenior arrived; the feel-good factor is back and the morale is at an all-time high.

To come from two goals down at half-time to win against West Ham in the same week that Chelsea also produced a comeback win over Antonio Conte’s Napoli is some going. A record-breaking win.

The first time that Chelsea have come back from two goals down at half-time in the Premier League to win. For Rosenior to pull off such a feat in only his seventh match in charge highlights his success so far.

Chelsea sit in fourth place in the Premier League table, their hunt of a fourth-placed finish is back on, and they can get back on the training ground knowing they aren’t involved in a Champions League play-off.

If Chelsea don’t manage to make a new signing before the deadline, things are fine. There are a handful of players who have made this all possible, and none more so than Moises Caicedo in central midfield.

Moises Caicedo proves Liam Rosenior right again v West Ham

Since Rosenior arrived, the Blues gaffer has made the claim on several occasions that Caicedo is the best defensive midfielder in the world. Even joking he plays with the calmness of a 35-year-old midfielder.

Rosenior said he would rather no other player: “In my opinion, as a defensive midfield player, I wouldn’t want to sit next to anybody else in world football. That’s what I think of Moi; he knows that, I’ve told him.”

Well, on Saturday, Caicedo proved Rosenior right once again. His stats in Chelsea’s incredible comeback win over West Ham were sensational, and the Ecuadorian was incredibly unlucky not to score a worldie.

Moises Caicedo’s stunning stats in win against West Ham

A stunning performance, Caicedo produced 16 defensive contributions, more than any other player. Also, the joint-most interceptions. A total of three, while Caicedo was also second when it came to tackles.

Caicedo’s passing was also incredible, having the third-most touches on the pitch and completing a huge 94% of his attempted 67 passes. He might have cost a fortune, but the 24-year-old is proving good value.

For a player that was bought for more than £100m, that is about as good as it gets when it comes to compliments. If Chelsea are going to do anything under Rosenior this season, Caicedo’s fitness is crucial.
