Chelsea could say goodbye to one of their players ahead of Monday evening’s deadline.
One Chelsea player is now reportedly asking to leave the club having struggled to make his presence felt. The Blues are racing to beat the deadline with new arrivals and exits, with one particular new arrival the clear focus.
The Blues also wanted a cheap or loan midfielder, but it does not look likely they will get one given the proximity of the deadline. In the meantime, Chelsea have continued their good form under Rosenior, coming back from two goals down to beat West Ham on Saturday evening.
But while many of the first team stars are singing from the same hymn sheet, not everyone at Stamford Bridge is feeling positive. Fringe star David Datro Fofana has failed to win over his managers during his time at Stamford Bridge having arrived for just shy of £11million from Molde in 2022.
Since arriving, Fofana has made just three league appearances, completing more loan spells than he has league appearances for the Blues. Fofana has spent time with Union Berlin, Burnley, Gostepe and most recently Faith Karagumruk.
Fofana scored six goal sin 13 league appearances in the first half of this season with the latter team, but he returned to Chelsea in search of a new opportunity. According to journalist Marc Mechenoua, Fofana has now asked to join French club Auxerre ahead of Monday evening’s deadline.
He reported: “Datro Fofana has asked to join Auxerre. AJA is offering Chelsea a paid loan of €500,000 with a mandatory €5M purchase option in case of survival + a percentage on resale Mallorca, in competition, offers a loan with a non-mandatory PO of €8M.”
Auxerre are currently in the relegation zone, two points from safety with a game in hand to play. so they do have every chance of beating the drop. As for Fofana, it is pretty clear he needs a fresh start having failed to impress Chelsea both during his time at the club and out on loan.
