Liverpool look set for a busy end to the transfer window with incoming and outgoing deals now possible

It is still possible for Curtis Jones to leave Liverpool this month with an agreement almost ready between the midfielder and Inter Milan.

That stance could still change in the final hours of the window as Jones might be allowed to move on if he pens a new contract at the club.

Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has provided some insight over the potential for the 25-year-old to head to Serie A.

“Curtis Jones was keen on a move to Inter but the problem is, Jones has a contract with Liverpool until 2027 and Liverpool will not let the player leave on loan unless he signs a new contract.

“At the moment, it is not at that stage. Liverpool are not approving the exit for Curtis Jones, unless he accepts a new contract. It is something at the moment that is not happening. Liverpool are not opening the doors to this possibility.

“It is my feeling that, if not in this window, then in the summer, something could happen around him because the contract situation must be sorted.”

Jones has played 21 Premier League games for the Reds this season but has started just 10 of those fixtures. He came off the bench for the final six minutes in the 4-1 win over Newcastle on Saturday night.

Addressing potential incoming and outgoing business, manager Arne Slot said following the win over the Magpies: "I think there's always a lot of talk about Liverpool and Liverpool players.

"There was a lot of noise around the club the last week or should I say weeks, but today our fans showed what noise really means. That is being loud, they were so helpful today, that is what noise here is in Liverpool.

"We are trying to strengthen the squad and not trying to weaken it. But yeah, 48-72 hours to go, let us see where the window ends up."

Jones has played 209 times for the Reds in his career, with 19 goals and 23 assists in that time.
