The League One leaders have snapped up a real talent.
Cardiff City are currently enjoying a really successful campaign as they sit top of the table.
With 29 games played, they are two points clear after picking up 18 wins and 6 draws.
They have now dipped into the transfer market to bolster their title charge and have looked towards Liverpool to give them depth in the defensive department.
Despite being light in the defensive department themselves, Liverpool have sanctioned another loan for young defender Callum Scanlon to join Cardiff City.
The loan deal will be for the remainder of the season, and they viewed it as the best next step for the player’s career.
Scanlon has just come back from a significant injury setback as a serious hamstring injury has ruled him out for almost eleven months.
Having impressed since returning to the academy set-up, Scanlon has secured a move away to a side that are full of confidence and will hopefully help Scanlon too.
Cardiff City have brought in Scanlon with the intention of providing back-up for Joel Bagan who has featured in all but one of Cardiff’s games this season.
Scanlon was on loan at Millwall last season and just as he was beginning to find his feet in the Championship, that hamstring injury occurred.
After spending some time on the sidelines, he has impressively bulked up after previously being quite a tall and wiry left-back.
Lewis Bower gave some insight on the move, saying:
“Let’s see how that [bulking up] translates to his already industrious game, potentially adding a bit pof power in his burst forward.”
“Has an absolutely wicked delivery from the left, mostly whipped with power.”
“Has spent a long time out injured, so we’ll see how he gets on. He’s extremely well thought of in England set-up and throughout Europe.”
Callum Scanlon’s loan move follows Lewis Koumas and Luke Chambers as they headed to Hull City and Charlton respectively until the end of the season.
Calum Scanlon joins Cardiff on loan.
It’s an exciting one after Scanlon had already begun to find his feet in the Championship last season, although, he was actually used as a winger at times by Millwall.
Was initially tall and wiry left-back, but has bulked up, impressively.…
