Wizards interested in trading for Lonzo Ball, according to report

Late last week, Michael Scotto of HoopsHype reported that the [Washington Wizards are interested in acquiring Cleveland Cavaliers guard Lonzo Ball](https://www.hoopshype.com/story/sports/nba/2026/01/31/nba-intel-cavs-kings-lakers-cam-thomas-bucks-mavs-suns-spurs/88449055007/). Ball currently has a $10 million annual salary that is part of a two-year contract which ends in the 2026-27 NBA season.

Ball is averaging 4.6 points and 3.9 assists per game this season as a reserve guard. He has played in most of the Cavaliers’ games this season, and has been in better health than in recent years. Ball missed the 2022-23 and 2023-24 seasons due to complications from knee surgery.

Washington could be a good landing spot for Ball, who would presumably play off the bench and could start in a pinch. In addition, his salary is movable and could give the Wizards cap flexibility, which they have a good amount of.
