8 G/A by February – Enzo could beat impressive 2025 stats after making superb start to 2026

When Chelsea scored their 94th minute winning goal last night with a first time finish from a box crashing run, you just knew who it would be.

Enzo Fernandez has made himself the man for crucial goals at crucial moments, and this was just the latest example.

Nizaar Kinsella’s piece for the BBC today takes a look at the Argentine’s numbers through 2025. He notes that Enzo was Chelsea’s number 1 player for goals, assists, goal contributions, chances created, chances created from open play, and successful passes into the final third.

So he’s creating chances as well as finishing them. And that’s just in 2025. 2026 is already off to a great start for the former Benfica man. He’s got 4 goals and 2 assists already. There’s been plenty of criticism of Enzo since his arrival at Chelsea, and while he’s not perfect, there’s just no arguing with those numbers.

His manager pointed out last night that that final box crash came after 95 minutes on the pitch, and after another gruelling midweek where he also put in a shift.

Enzo deserved the wild, shirt off celebration which he indulged in after winning the game. At this clip, 2026 stands to be even better than 2025. We’ve just got to keep him fit and fresh for the big games to come.

Chelsea manager Liam Rosenior appeared to pick the wrong team for the second game in a row – but once again he turned it around in the second half with some good subs. He pleased with fans not to blame the 3 players he hauled off at half time.

Rosenior could only be pleased after a come back win – but there are of course things he wasn’t happy about as well.
