The Knicks go into Sunday’s East-West showdown as 4.5-point favorites and with the second-best overall record (30-18) in the Eastern Conference. New York is also the East’s best home team with a 19-6 mark at Madison Square Garden and owns a streak of five straight wins. The Knicks returned to MSG after a jaunt to Toronto to log their second straight blowout win over the Portland Trail Blazers (127-97) behind 20-plus points each from Brunson (26), OG Anunoby (24) and Josh Hart (20).

The Lakers have been largely successful on their current road trip, which they wrap Tuesday in Brooklyn, with a 4-2 record in six games thus far and a 142-111 victory over the Wizards in Washington Friday night. Doncic has scored 29-plus points in all six road games thus far and logged a triple-double by halftime against the Wizards, finishing with 37 points, 11 rebounds and 13 assists in 31 minutes. For the season, the Lakers sit in sixth place in a tight pack in the Western Conference with their 29-18 record, which includes three wins over their past four contests.
