How much Jeremy Jacquet will cost

Liverpool are already planning for the summer, and the centre-back market is starting to take shape.

One name now being linked strongly is Jeremy Jacquet, a 20-year-old defender currently at Stade Rennais FC.

This is the kind of deal that usually turns into a race.

Young centre-backs with top-level potential do not stay quiet targets for long.

And once more than one big club is involved, the price and pressure both rise.

From a Liverpool point of view, the timing matters.

The club are facing a serious risk at the back. Ibrahima Konaté could leave for free this summer, which would force Liverpool into the market whether they like it or not.

That is why these talks are not just “nice to have”. They are protection.

There is also competition. Chelsea FC are still in the picture, and they already tried to get the player this month.

That adds urgency, because waiting too long can turn an opportunity into regret.

So, even before the numbers come out, the story is clear.

Liverpool want to act early. Another top club is involved. And a contract situation at Anfield is pushing this forward.

According to Ben Jacobs, Liverpool are advancing in talks to sign Jacquet in the summer.

The reported cost is a package of an initial £55 million fee plus £5 million in add-ons. That would put the total value at £60 million, depending on bonuses being met.

Chelsea remain in talks with Rennes as well, after trying to sign him this month. But Liverpool “appear resolute to win the race” as they try to avoid losing Konate for nothing, in the event that the lose him.
