Hawks’ Jalen Johnson named 2026 NBA All-Star Game reserve

ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) — Atlanta Hawks forward Jalen Johnson has been selected as a reserve for the 2026 NBA All-Star Game.

It’s the 24-year-old’s first-career NBA All-Star Game selection.

Seven players from each conference were names as reserves. The announcement was made prior to the premiere of Sunday Night Basketball.

Johnson is the fourth-youngest Hawk since the franchise’s move to Atlanta to earn his first All-Star selection. At just 24, he has assumed the reins of the team following Trae Young’s departure, delivering a breakout season while averaging career highs of 23.1 points, 10.5 rebounds and 8.0 assists per game. He’s also shooting a career-best 36 percent from three-point range.

This year’s All-Star Game will debut a new U.S.-versus-World format, featuring two teams of American players and one international “World” team. The three squads will compete in a round-robin tournament consisting of four 12-minute games.

NBA coaches voted on the reserves, while commissioner Adam Silver will select any necessary injury replacements. Starters were chosen through a weighted vote of fans (50%), a media panel (25%) and current NBA players (25%).

The All-Star Game will take place Feb. 15 at 5 p.m. ET at the Inuit Dome in Inglewood, California.
