Blazers’ Deni Avdija selected for NBA All-Star Game

PORTLAND Ore. (KPTV) - Portland Trail Blazers forward Deni Avdija was named a reserve for the 2026 NBA All-Star Game on Sunday.

The selection was Avdija’s first, and the first for a Blazer since Damian Lillard in 2023.

Avdija is in the midst of a career season, averaging 25.5 points, 7.2 rebounds and 6.7 assists over nearly 35 minutes in 44 games entering Sunday.

The 25-year-old was acquired by Portland prior to last season, after spending the first four years of his NBA career with the Washington Wizards, who selected him ninth overall in the 2020 NBA Draft.

Avdija is one of six first-time selections to the annual exhibition game.

The event will have a different look in 2026, as the league continues to try and make it more competitive.

This year, three teams will compete in a round-robin tournament featuring four 12-minute games.

16 United States-born players will be split into two teams, while Avdija joins seven other foreign-born selections on the “World” team.

The event is scheduled for Sunday, Feb. 15, as the culmination of the three-day NBA All-Star Weekend in Los Angeles.
