Arsenal Receive Response After Submitting Bid For Striker‘In The Last Few Hours’

Arsenal have had an offer rejected for Blackburn Rovers striker Igor Tyjon, according to reports.

RoversXtra have ran a story, which they say is an ‘exclusive’, claiming that the Gunners submitted a £1m bid for the 17-year-old “in the last few hours.”

However, the proposal is well below Blackburn’s £2m valuation, and it is unlikely that Tyjon will leave Ewood Park before the transfer window slams shut at 7 PM GMT.

The teenager has been the subject of several offers dating back to last year, but an agreement between the two parties looks further away than ever.

What do fans need to know about Tyjon?

The forward has English and Polish ancestry. He has played for both countries at youth level, having been called up for each national team’s Under-18 squad over the past twelve months.

For Blackburn, Tyjon has made his first-team debut, getting his first taste of senior football as a substitute in a league game against Bristol City in September 2024.

The youngster made one further appearance last campaign (against Sunderland), and he has featured in the Carabao Cup (versus Bradford City) this season.

Arsenal could sign him for much less in the summer

Tyjon’s contract with Blackburn expires at the end of the season, and he isn’t expected to sign an extension with the Championship strugglers.

Due to the player’s age, though, Mikel Arteta’s side won’t be able to sign him for free. Compensation of around £200,000 will need to be paid to secure his signature.

That is just a tenth of what Tyjon could cost this month, and it seems likely that the Gunners will wait until the summer to finally get their man.

If he does make the switch, the striker is expected to join up with the academy setup, rather than the first-team squad.
