LeBron James might not be starting the All-Star game, but he will still make an appearance at the event.
The Los Angeles Lakers forward made the 2026 NBA All-Star game as a reserve, marking his 22nd-consecutive All-Star appearance. Since entering the league in 2003, James has never missed an All-Star game, making the game as a starter in each of his first 20 seasons.

James' future remains a bit of a question mark, so it's possible that this All-Star appearance is his last in the NBA. The 41 year-old is set to hit free agency this summer and has not yet made a decision on whether he will return.

James has now made 22 All-Star games, the most in NBA history and one for every season in which James has played. Of those 22 appearances, 20 were as a starter, while James' two most recent appearances in 2025 and 2026 is his first as a reserve.
In fact, James has more All-Star appearances as a starter than anyone else has appearances overall. Kareem Abdul-Jabbar is second on the All-time list with 19, while Kobe Bryant is third with 18.

James' 22 All-Star games includes 11 as a member of the Cleveland Cavaliers, eight as a Laker, and four with the Miami Heat. James' eight All-Star games with Los Angeles is now sixth in franchise history, as he passed Shaquille O'Neal on the all-time list.
Of course, James holds the Cavaliers record for most All-Star games in Cleveland's history, while his four in Miami are fourth on the Heat's all-time list.
