Romano Issues Update That Suggests West Ham Could Still Sign Chelsea Star

AC Milan are unlikely to sign West Ham transfer target Axel Disasi as things stand, according to journalist Fabrizio Romano.

The Rossoneri were offered the Frenchman on loan, but Romano says that the Serie A side are “oriented not to proceed” with the deal.

Disasi has also been heavily linked with a move to the Hammers in recent days, with some suggesting he was in advanced talks over a switch to the London Stadium.

Those claims were subsequently played down by Blues boss Liam Rosenior, with it then emerging that Milan had entered the fray for the centre-back.

It remains to be seen whether this latest twist will see West Ham revive their interest in Disasi.

What is the latest on the search for a centre-back?

At the time of writing, the Irons have explored deals for several players, including Southampton’s Taylor Harwood-Bellis, Hull City’s John Egan and Disasi.

Of course, there is always a chance that a new name could surface out of the blue, as Nuno and the recruitment team look at options further down their shortlist.

If Disasi is available on loan, though, and he is willing to make the move across London, that could still be the easiest deal to secure in the final hours of the transfer window.

How many players could West Ham sign on Deadline Day?

Nuno is thought to be keen on adding at least two new signings. Some fans were hoping for a replacement for Lucas Paqueta, but links to midfielders have been few and far between.

A new goalkeeper is seen as more likely, especially if Mads Hermansen is allowed to go. Tottenham’s Antonin Kinsky seems to be the no.1 target to replace the Dane, but Spurs would only sanction his departure if they can find another keeper themselves.
