Norman Powell was officially selected for the first All-Star game of his NBA career. The former Bruin has had a great season in his first year with the Miami Heat. He will now represent the team at the All-Star game and add to a long list of Bruins, who have made it. Powell has become a great offensive player since coming into the league. He is currently averaging 23 points per game on 47.2/39.2/84.4 shooting splits. Helping lead Miami to a 27-24 record while the team has battled many injuries this year.

Powell played four seasons with the Bruins before going to the NBA. He broke out his senior year of college in the 2014 season. Averaging 16.4 points per game and leading him to becoming a 2nd round pick in the 2015 NBA Draft. He became an integral part of a Toronto Raptors team that won the NBA championship in 2019. Providing them with a player off the bench that could stretch the floor.
Powell on a nightly basis is good for his usual 20+ points per game. Over the course of his career, he has now played in 660 games and scored 9,146 points. Adding to a long list of Bruin guards that continue to have an impact in the NBA. Russell Westbrook, Zach LaVine and Jrue Holiday are just a few more to name as well. Powell is now an All-Star and can add that to his resume for his career. One that continues to get better and better.

Powell became the odd man out with the Clippers this offseason. Being traded in a sale remove to try and bolster their roster around Kawhi Leonard. It was an interesting move considering Powell wasn’t the problem with what was going on. He was consistently in Sixth Man of the Year talks and accepted his role. Now, with more of an opportunity in Miami, he is making the most of it. Congrats Norman, job well done!
