Hart admits the Knicks are good enough to win games without standout games from the stars

The New York Knicks have been firing on all cylinders recently, winning their sixth game in a row on Sunday night. It is a significant shift for the Knicks, who were struggling in January.

Now, the Knicks are back in the second seed with an identical 31-18 record to the Boston Celtics. On Sunday, the Knicks performed extremely well without the need to have standout scoring nights from Jalen Brunson and Karl-Anthony Towns.

Hart knows the Knicks can play well without standout games from the stars

In the Sunday night game against the Los Angeles Lakers, Brunson and Towns scored a combined 23 points. During most nights, if they performed like that, they would most likely lose the game.

That was not the case in the 112-100 win against the Lakers. OG Anunoby scored 25 points, Landry Shamet had 23, and Josh Hart had 20. They performed well enough that Brunson and Towns focused on other parts of their game.

Brunson dished out 13 assists, while Towns grabbed 13 rebounds. It was a relatively quiet game for them, and the team did not necessarily need their standout performances.

Hart himself believes that the win against the Lakers was proof of the Knicks' impressive depth this season.

"It's not always going to be JB or KAT's night, but we have enough guys to obviously score points, but it shows that we don't have to force anything," Hart said about the Knicks' balanced scoring against the Lakers.

Moving forward, this could be a good thing for the Knicks. They need to be a more well-rounded team because if they keep relying on Brunson and Towns, they might struggle if they have bad shooting nights.

Head coach Mike Brown should be looking at the win against the Lakers as a good example of what the Knicks are truly capable of.
