Liverpool are in contract discussions with a number of players with some matters more pressing than others

Liverpool midfielder Dominik Szoboszlai has said he would ‘love to stay’ at Anfield as he continues to hold talks over a new contract at the club.

The Hungarian international has been one of the club’s stand-out players this season and delivered another impressive display from right back as the Reds beat Newcastle United 4-1 on Saturday evening at Anfield.

The midfielder has been used at right-back on a number of occasions this season due to a shortage of options. He has also been hugely-impressive in his natural position of central midfield. he is the club’s second top goalscorer with eight goals - only summer signing Hugo Ekitike has more.

Speaking after the 4-1 win over the Magpies - which came via goals from Ekitike, Florian Wirtz and Ibrahima Konate - Szoboszlai was coy on current talks but admitted he would love to remain at Liverpool.

"Nothing yet, to be honest,” he said as he addressed his contract talks with the club via The Mirror.

"Nothing, from now on… it is not in my hands. There is no progression but if the right offer comes then let’s see.

“Right now, I am doing my job on the pitch - we will see in the future. I like the city, I like the club, I like playing with these guys, I love Anfield, I love the fans, let’s see what the future holds.

“It is not on me. I would love to (stay). We will see. It is always there and back and there and back. Let’s see what happens.”

The Reds are also reported to be in talks with Alexis Mac Allister and Ryan Gravenberch over new contracts but have several players who will see their deals expire this summer and in 2027.

Freddie Woodman, Andrew Robertson and Ibrahima Konate will all see their deals run out at the end of the campaign. Meanwhile, Alisson Becker, Virgil van Dijk, Wataru Endo, Mohamed Salah, Joe Gomez, Curtis Jones and Stefan Bajectic are all out of contract in 2027.
