Chelsea turn down'big money'offer for player Liam Rosenior loves - Romano

Chelsea’s centre-back search appears to have ended after losing Jeremy Jacquet to Liverpool.

The only bit of business that Chelsea appears to be doing on deadline day is for Mamadou Sarr to come back to Stamford Bridge.

This will come as a huge disappointment to supporters who got their hopes up for a centre-back signing after the Jeremy Jacquet links first emerged.

We had the whole of January to sign Jeremy Jacquet and come up short 😡

Chelsea have Benoit Badiashile, Mamadou Sarr, Trevoh Chalobah, Josh Acheampong, Tosin Adarabioyo and Wesley Fofana as options, so there’s plenty of cover.

It’s just that Jacquet’s potential is incredible. He wouldn’t have come until the summer anyway, but the fact that we failed to get it over the line despite being the frontrunner for weeks is crazy.

And there appears to have been an alleged PR play already to smooth it over.

Chelsea rejected a ‘big money’ bid for Josh Acheampong

Liam Rosenior has big plans for Josh Acheampong at Chelsea after a lack of opportunities under Enzo Maresca.

His versatility is a major plus, as he can play at centre-back and right-back.

And now it has been claimed by Fabrizio Romano that Chelsea have turned down a ‘big money’ offer this month for Josh Acheampong.

This comes after reported interest from Crystal Palace and Bayern Munich in Acheampong.

In an ideal world, who is walking through the door on Deadline Day?🤔

A potential PR play from Chelsea after Jeremy Jacquet

The fact that not long after Jeremy Jacquet to Liverpool was revealed, Fabrizio Romano shared that Chelsea turned down a ‘big money’ offer for Acheampong seems strange.

Romano’s update suggests that Chelsea are trying to deflect away from losing out on Jacquet or not paying for him by making it out that Acheampong was always their play.

It doesn’t make sense that Chelsea would have chased Jacquet and had talks for this long only to go and put their trust in Acheampong and Sarr. This is something they could have done all along.

For a player who is deemed ‘so important’, he’s only played 53 minutes against Arsenal and was an unused substitute in all of Liam Rosenior’s Premier League games.
