Liverpool have a couple of hours remaining in order to complete their January transfer dealings. The Reds have been linked with several high-profile names during the winter window, but it has been a quiet month in eyeing reinforcements.
However, that situation could alter before Monday's 7pm cut-off point, with Liverpool maintaining their desire to bolster their squad. On loan Sunderland defender Lutsharel Geertruida had surfaced as a late option to strengthen the club's defensive and midfield areas, given the Netherlands international's previous relationship with Arne Slot at Feyenoord, though that move now seems unlikely to materialise.
Meanwhile, Jeremy Jacquet remains a long-standing objective for the Reds, although any potential switch for the Rennes defender will need to be postponed until the summer window.
Galatasaray's Roland Sallai represents another name that has been associated with a switch to Merseyside as Slot attempts to inject additional attacking threat into his squad for the season's concluding months.
Regarding departures, Curtis Jones has attracted attention from Inter Milan, whilst Dominik Szoboszlai's future prospects have become increasingly unclear and Andy Robertson had been connected with a potential move to Tottenham.

Liverpool set to win Jeremy Jacquet race
Liverpool have agreed a deal to bring in Jeremy Jacquet from Rennes during the summer. The Reds have been persistently linked with a move for the 20-year-old but have now reached an agreement for the defender to sign in the summer.
Rennes were unwilling to part with the France Under-21 international in January but have consented to his departure at the conclusion of the campaign. Now, Liverpool have negotiated a pre-agreement worth an initial £55million plus £5m in add-ons for the 20-year-old.
Jacquet, who has also attracted attention from Chelsea and Bayern Munich, has agreed personal terms with the Reds.
There could still be the opportunity to hijack Liverpool's efforts in offering a higher fee. But it's understood that personal terms won't be an issue.
Lutscharel Geertruida latest as Liverpool face decision
Liverpool are unlikely to complete the signing of Lutsharel Geertruida before the January transfer window closes. It emerged on Sunday morning that the Reds have been presented with the opportunity to terminate Geertruida's loan at Sunderland and secure him at Anfield until the season's end.
However, Sunderland are unable to approve the transfer at this stage as they lack sufficient time to identify a replacement before Monday's 7pm deadline.
Geertruida, who moved to the Black Cats on loan from RB Leipzig during the summer, was keen to make the switch and Liverpool were willing to progress and complete his signing.
The expectation at the Stadium of Light is that Geertruida will prepare as usual for Monday's Premier League fixture against Burnley, which is scheduled to kick off an hour after the deadline has elapsed.
