Manchester City midfielder Kalvin Phillips is the subject of interest from a number of teams but a concrete offer is unlikely

Manchester City midfielder Kalvin Phillips is the subject of interest from a “number of teams” but no concrete offer has been made for the ex-Leeds United man this month.

The former England international has had a nightmare at the Etihad Stadium, following a £42.5m move from Leeds back in 2022.

The 30-year-old joined City after spending all his career to date with his hometown club of Leeds. He had a loan spell at West Ham in the second half of the 2023-24 campaign and then spent last season on loan at Ipswich Town.

He was unable to secure a permanent or temporary exit in the summer and time is quickly running out for him to find another move before the 7pm deadline on Monday.

According to the Manchester Evening News, several teams have shown an interest in the midfielder but nothing has materialised in terms of a move. Phillips is said to have “no hope” of playing in the first team under Pep Guardiola.

He has made one appearance this season, which came as a late substitute in a 2-0 win over Huddersfield Town in the third round of the Carabao Cup back in September. He has played just 32 times for City since his move from Leeds almost four years ago.

The midfielder, who was named England men’s player of the year in 2021, signed a six-year deal with City which leaves him under contract for another two seasons come the end of the campaign.

He is said to earn around £150,000 a week at City, which would prove difficult for a number of teams when it comes to personal terms for any potential deal.
