Sheffield United are reportedly exploring a deal to sign former Leeds United defender Leo Hjelde from Sunderland.
The 22-year-old has not kicked a ball in a senior fixture for Sunderland this season, having found competition stern since his return from injury.
He was a bit-part player as they clinched promotion from the Championship last term and appeared a substitute in their play-off final win over the Blades.
However, it now appears the former Norway youth international could have a chance to line up in the red and white of Sheffield United.

According to The Star, the Blades are exploring the possibility of striking a deal for Hjelde in the final hours of the winter window.
Sheffield United need to get their business wrapped up today (February 2) and it has been claimed Hjelde could depart the Stadium of Light on loan.
His arrival would give Sheffield United some much-needed cover at left-back following an injury to Sam McCallum, which has left Harrison Burrows as the only senior option.
Leo Hjelde’s pedigree
Hjelde can also play at centre-back and during a spell at Ross County in 2021, was likened to Virgil van Dijk by his then-boss John Hughes.
He said: “Leo is going to be the next Van Dijk. Trust me on that. I would love to see him make his debut for Celtic and become a regular. I would love nothing more to see him running out there.
“We want him to play his part in keeping Ross County in the Premiership then play for Celtic next season.”
