Liverpool have agreed a fee to sign Jeremy Jacquet of Rennes.
Jeremy Jacquet is due to undergo a medical ahead of joining Liverpool.
The Reds have agreed a fee of up to £60 million with Rennes to sign the defender before tonight’s 19.00 GMT deadline. Jacquet is set to stay at Rennes for the rest of the campaign on loan where he will continue his development. The 20-year-old has been a regular starter for the French side this season in their pursuit of European qualification.
And it appears that Jacquet could well be making his way to England. A private jet left Nantes Airport - which is 75 miles from Rennes - at 08.43 and is set to land in Manchester around 10.00. The France under-21s international will then have his medical and, barring any issues, will become Liverpool’s latest signing.
The Reds’ swoop has come as a pleasant surprise to fans. It was appearing that the highly-regarded centre-half would join Premier League rivals Chelsea only a couple of days ago. However, Liverpool moved ahead of the London outfit in the race for Jacquet’s signature.

Slot’s former Feyenoord captain is on a season-long loan at Sunderland from RB Leipzig. The complexity meant a potential deal could not be thrashed out.
