Liam Rosenior had praised the young striker but admitted that he was finding opportunities hard to come by at Chelsea.
Chelsea are reported to have finalised a deal with Premier League rivals Everton for a loan of young striker Tyrique George on Deadline Day.
The Toffees have been in the market for attacking reinforcements and had been keen on bringing the 19-year-old to Merseyside. George is set to make the move on a short-term loan with Everton holding the option to buy the player in the summer, although that is not an obligation.
George has been linked with a move away from Stamford Bridge throughout January after a £22 million switch to Fulham fell through on Deadline Day at the end of the summer window. The striker has made just 11 appearances across all competitions with just 143 minutes afforded to him in the Premier League.
Everton agree loan deal for Chelsea striker
The teenager has featured in just one top flight matchday squad since the start of November with his last league appearance coming off the bench against Sunderland in October. The Black Cats themselves had been credited with serious interest in George by Keith Downie over the weekend, but appear to have lost out on the transfer race.
Everton’s push for the player comes after an injury to Jack Grealish ruled him out for the rest of the season. The Manchester City loanee has a stress fracture and could require surgery.
On Monday evening, transfer specialist Fabrizio Romano wrote: “Tyrique George to Everton, here we go! Deal in place after official bid sent yesterday as exclusively revealed. Loan deal until June, full salary covered by #EFC and buy option clause not mandatory. Medical booked.”
Liam Rosenior praises Tyrique George for ‘immense potential’
Chelsea manager Liam Rosenior was asked about George’s future this month and heaped praise on the player’s attitude. He said: "The honest answer is I don't know. Tyrique is a player of immense potential who I have been aware of for a long time.
“I've said this to the players: your background, whether you're an academy player or a £100 million player, it's about what you do in training and his attitude in training has been first-class."
