Report: Chelsea player travelling to undergo medical at Premier League rival

Chelsea are expected to rubber-stamp a few exits on deadline day, and the first appears to be the loan exit to a Premier League rival, with a medical now scheduled.

While any incomings now seem unlikely before the 7pm deadline, Chelsea are expected to green-light the exits of some of their fringe players. David Datro Fofana and Aaron Anselmino are off to Strasbourg.

A couple of youngsters are also expected to leave, with Harry McGlinchey joining Sheffield United on a free and Jimi Tauriainen potentially departing, having only ever played twice for Chelsea’s senior side.

Raheem Sterling remains a free agent, while Mamadou Sarr’s loan at Strasbourg is set to be cancelled, with Anselmino replacing him. Now, Axel Disasi’s future looks set to be sorted before the deadline.

Axel Disasi on his way to undergo medical at Chelsea’s rival

On Saturday, Chelsea and West Ham renewed their rivalry just before full-time with a brawl near the corner flag. Yet, just 48 hours later, and the two sides are set to agree a loan for defender Disasi.

The ÂŁ39m signing was surprisingly reintegrated by Liam Rosenior this month, having been a part of the Chelsea bomb squad. But now, Disasi is set to go on loan for a second time after a spell at Aston Villa.

According to the Guardian’s Jacob Steinberg, Disasi is on his way and is due to arrive at West Ham in due course before completing a loan until the end of the season at the London Stadium on deadline day.

Nottingham Forest made late move for Axel Disasi

While West Ham have been strongly linked with Disasi for much of the January window, Nottingham Forest made a late play to land Disasi on deadline day. But nothing seems to have materialised from that.

Italian clubs also showed interest in Disasi, with Milan, Roma and Fiorentina all linked at some point in the window. But now, Disasi is set to go on loan to West Ham as the Hammers look to avoid relegation.

Ben Jacobs reports that a move is not fully done, telling TalkSPORT (10.50AM, 02/02) that Disasi is yet to actually agree a move to the Hammers, but with a medical scheduled, it feels like it is now a formality.
