Cavaliers' Craig Porter Jr. makes basketball history not done in NBA since 1993

Craig Porter Jr. is one of the most unique players in the NBA.

You wouldn't know that by looking at the Cleveland Cavaliers' backup point guard. But once you watch him play, you get it.

That's especially true if you watched Porter on Sunday night in Portland in the Cavs' 130-111 win over the Trail Blazers.

Porter finished with a remarkable combination of 12 assists, 5 steals and 2 blocks.

He's the first player to have those stats off the bench since 1993, according to StatMuse.

No matter that he scored just three points. Porter more than made his 28 minutes worthwhile.

A bunch of his assists came to the big center Jarrett Allen, who finished the night with a career-high 40 points with his teammates constantly finding him in good spots.

Porter's two blocks came in quick succession in the second quarter.

First, he blocked 7-foot-2 Donovan Clingan near the basket, a play that required a challenge to be successful for the referees to overturn an initial foul call and realize that the guard a foot shorter than the big guy had actually pulled that off.

Then, Porter hustled back from behind the play to swat an unsuspecting 3-point shooter as he came into the play, managing to not only block the shot emphatically but also right into his own arms to go the other way.

Cavs coach Kenny Atkinson has referred to Porter as a de facto power forward, but in reality, he's got the floor vision of a point guard with the anticipation to match. He also just has a knack for using those very same skills to block shots in a way that someone his size very rarely does. It's pretty special to watch.
