Arsenal in talks for teenage striker in stunning deadline day move

Arsenal are working on a deal to sign teenage striker James Wilson from Scottish Premiership leaders Hearts.

According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, Arsenal have opened discussions with the Jambos over the striker. The 18-year-old has already been capped by Scotland and has scored eight goals in 21 starts for the Edinburgh club. Initial discussions are over a proposed loan deal.

Wilson has struggled to get into the Hearts team this season but he’s still just 18 and already has eight senior goals in 45 appearances. Wilson, the son of former Hearts player Danny Wilson, has impressed on trial with Arsenal and is seen as a highly-rated talent in Scottish football.

The teenager could move to the Emirates in the summer or sooner if compensation is agreed between the clubs. Wilson scored six goals in 32 appearances for the Jambos last season and made his Scotland debut in the second leg of the Nations League play-off tie against Greece.
